In 1970, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati College was established, marking a significant milestone in the annals of higher education in the Western Pune District of Maharashtra. The college is associated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly known as the University of Pune). Initially, this institution offered Arts and Commerce degree programmes. In 1984, the Science faculty was established, and postgraduate courses were introduced in Marathi, Political Science, and English. Commerce and science were introduced after 1989.
The college commenced operations in the Junnar Education Society building in 1977, and it subsequently constructed its own facility. Since June 1977, the college has been operating its own building.
