National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala) is a technology-focused higher education institution in India, founded in 1965 under the name Tripura Engineering College. It specializes in mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering. Originally associated with Calcutta University, it implemented the same curriculum framework and assessment system as IIEST Shibpur. In 2006, the state government approved the transformation of Tripura Engineering College into the National Institute of Technology, granting it the status of an Institute of National Importance.
