About Institute: University of Connecticut

The main campus of the public land-grant research university system known as the University of Connecticut (UConn) is located in Storrs, Connecticut, in the United States. Named for two patrons, the Storrs Agricultural School was established in 1881. The institution changed its name to its current one in 1939 after becoming a public land grant college in 1893. The next ten years saw the establishment of graduate, social work, and nursing programs. UConn Health was founded for future medical and dental schools in the 1960s. The New England Commission of Higher Education has granted UConn its accreditation.

Position 1: Ceramic Coatings and High-Temperature Materials

• PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or related fields
• Experience in synthesis/processing of ceramics and/or high-temperature materials
• Strong fundamental in ceramic science, especially crystallography, kinetics, and thermodynamics
• Hands-on experience in powder handling. synthesis. characterization, and in-depth analysis
• Excellent writing and project execution skills

Position 2: Computational Materials Science

• PhD in Materials Soence and Engineering. physics or related fields
• Experience in first-principles calculations, CALPHAD modeling. and machine learning
• Strong fundamental in thermodynamics, kinetics (especially diffusion) and materials properties
• Excellent writing and project execution skills
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with Thermo-CaIc.

• Position 3: Physical Metallurgy and Experimental Materials Science
• PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or related fields
• Strong fundamental in materials science, especially thermodynamics and kinetics
• Hands-on experience in metal research, especially characterization and in-depth analysis
• Experience in additive manufacturing and/or glovebox processing is highly preferred but not required
• Excellent writing and project execution skills
